The Palm Islands are an attraction which is actually an artificial archipelago built in Dubai. The archipelago is made up of three islands: the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Diera and each forms the shape of a palm tree. The palm islands are situated of the United Arab Emirate’s coast in the Persian Gulf. The palm islands have added about 500 kilometers of beaches to the city of Dubai. The palms islands are made of the sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf. The sand was sprayed by the dredging ships, which were guided by highly advanced global positioning apparatus on to the precise required spot.
Palm Jumeirah has added about 78 kilometers to the coastline of Dubai city. The island is made up of a tree trunk, a crown with 16 fronts and a surrounding crescent island that forms the breakwater. The Jumeirah palm island is basically a retreat and residential area leisure, relaxation and luxurious living. The island has themed boutique hotels, lovely signature villas, scenic garden homes, stunning holiday homes and shoreline apartments.
The Palm Jebel Ali Island is larger than Palm Jumeirah. The island is more of an entertainment destination for both adults and children and both for locals and tourists. The palm Ali Island is made of six marinas, a ‘sea village’, a water theme park and build on stilts between the fronts and the crescents are water homes to enjoy varieties of water sports. There are four theme parks in Palm Jebel. These parks collectively are called the World of Discovery. The parks includes sea world, Aquatic, Busch Gardens and Discovery Cove.
The largest of the three palm islands The Palm Deira covers an area of about 14 km (8.4 miles) in length and 8.5km (5.1 miles) in width. It is made up of residential houses, marinas, shopping malls, sports facilities, and entertainment clubs. The residential facilities are located on the 41 fronds and contain over 8,000 two-storey villas and town houses in three major styles – Premier Villas, Grand Villas and Vista Town Homes.
